Tom and I have just spent the week in Brisbane for a national water polo competition that he competed in for his club, SNB Breakers. As well as looking after 4 boys in one of the apartments I was also responsible for providing breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to 13 teenage boys and 5 adults for the week. What surprised me the most was how much the boys ate. Each meal I planned I ended up having to double the quantities - they didn't stop eating! It was a brilliant if slightly exhausting week and Tom's team came 11th out of 26th - they were ranked 11th at the beginning of the competition so ended up exactly where they were expected. Tom was given a new nickname - Tommy Turbo - for his fast sprints up and down the pool.
Here are the boys all on their phones at the airport. We banned phones for the week other than a 5 minute call each night to parents. At the end of the week the boys admitted that they'd enjoyed not having access to their phones.

A typical lunch scene - eating sandwiches whilst watching television
How to chaperone a water polo team - lock them up!

Conner, Tom, Mack and Toby - notice the zinc cream covering their faces - it was hot!
