McW Christmas: Part 3, The Farm

We had set ourselves a departure time for the farm of 9am on January 1st and managed to leave at 8.45am which made Jules very happy!  We were fully laden with the trailer filled with the red farm bike and 3 swags.  We arrived at the farm in 35 degree heat to discover that the electricity wasn't working.  Jules discovered a broken fuse which we had experienced once before a number of years ago.  We were amazed when an electrician turned up 2 hours after his call and had the electricity restored within about 15 minutes.

Due to the heat anyone who could set up a bed outside either in a swag, hammock or tent and we took it in turns to cool our feet down in a bucket of water.  We were very grateful when the Jamo's arrived with an esky full of ice.

The boys spent hours riding the various motorbikes and the girls stuck to the quad bike.  We had our obligatory lunch at The Globe in Rylstone and then spent the afternoon at Kandos pool to cool down. We got back to the farm just before a huge storm hit which cooled the temperatures a little bit and made sleeping a little easier.

Cooking dinner

We came back to Sydney and had dinner at Jellyfish for the Whomsley's last night.  The following morning we woke to 32 degree heat and very high humidity.  We headed down for a last swim at the beach before the Whomsley's needed to get back into jeans ready for the flight home.  Unfortunately, the intense heat caused a major storm with buckets of rain, thunder and lightening.  It hit just before the Whomsley's plane was due to take off and they were delayed in Sydney for 6 hours.  We're hoping it didn't put too much of a dampener on their holiday because it really was perfect up until then - such amazing family memories for all of us.
