Banana dog

Ted loves bananas.  He can hear a banana being peeled from anywhere in the house and will make his way, post haste, to whoever is eating the banana.  He will then sit patiently, almost on the eater's toes, reminding them that he would really like a bit of the banana.  He's the same with apples.

Tom hit is big toenail hard on a surfboard on Saturday afternoon.  On Sunday morning he hit the same toenail against the back of his heel and almost entirely dislodged the toenail.  I have a photo but will do us all a favour by not posting it.  I had to take him to the medical centre where his toe was anaethetised, thoroughly cleaned and the toenail pressed back into place and held there with a tight bandage.

On Tuesday morning Tom was still in considerable pain so I took him to our local doctor who was worried he might have broken his toe.  Of course!  This is Tom we're talking about.  The radiographer greeted Tom by saying "Oh, I know you, you're a bit of a frequent flyer here aren't you?!" After a tense wait we've discovered that it's not broken, just very badly bruised so Tom will be off sport for the next couple of weeks.  It means the poor boy will miss a surf camp which was planned for this weekend by Queenscliff Boardriders but at least it shouldn't impact too much on the school holidays which start in 2 weeks time.
