On Saturday, after watching Tess play netball, Jules and I headed up to Long Jetty on the Central Coast to pick up Jules' birthday present: a 1983 FJ60 Toyota Land Cruiser. When Jules and I first arrived in Australia back in 1999 we bought a 1982 FJ60 which we both loved. We did a lot of four-wheel driving with her and had lots of adventures. It was a real wrench when we had to sell her after we decided to head back to the UK.

When we came back to Australia the second time, in 2005, we once again bought an old Toyota Land Cruiser and the picture below is the time we went camping when Tom was 3 days old. We still have and use the tent in that picture!
Jules has been looking for some time for a FJ60 and it must have been fate for this one to appear just in time for his birthday! It has a lovely history: it was owned by a man and used on his farm up in Far North Queensland. When the man died he left the car to his mechanic who had faithfully serviced it. The mechanic had too many cars so ended up selling it to the couple we bought it from. They did a fabulous 6 month road trip from Cooktown down to Sydney. They have now bought an old combi van that they are going to do up so feel it's time to sell this one. They were thrilled that it's gone to people who will look after her and aim to restore her to her former glory!

Kate was in town over the weekend and Trudie, Bec and I caught up with her for a cheeky lunch in the City. It was a glorious day and it was fun to be out and about at Barangaroo which has been significantly developed over the past 10 years and is a wonderful place to find good restaurants and bars.
