Australia Day fell on a Tuesday this year and so lots of people took the Monday off to make a long weekend. Sadly, Jules had to work on the Monday so I took Darcy horse riding as her birthday present. She has never been on a horse before and Lisa had no intention of taking her so it was up to me as her godmother. She was quite nervous beforehand and Lisa and I were worried that she might refuse to even get on the horse but we had the most amazing instructor who reassured her and I'm delighted to say that Darcy loved it.
The kids both had their own plans for Australia Day with friends so we were lucky to be invited to the Emmott Bennetts for lunch with the Van Der Reydens. The weather was absolutely stunning and we spent a very happy hour in the pool cooling off whilst drinking champagne - so civilized!

The weather changed from glorious to non-stop rain on Wednesday as if it knew everyone was now back at school and work. I failed at taking photos of the kids in their school uniform. Tess only has 3 more terms of school left and then it's all over!
