1 is unfortunate, 2 could be considered careless

Tom had his plate removed from his left leg this week. It was a long standing date for the operation that we thought would be cancelled due to the lockdown but the surgeon was happy to go ahead and everything happened very quickly. He's on crutches for 6 weeks but at least it's during term time and he has online schooling for another 2 weeks so we're really very lucky with the timing.

Tom ready for surgery

Ted has been a bit under the weather recently so I took him to the vet on Tuesday who diagnosed him with a gastric problem. Ted was worse on Wednesday night and struggling to walk so Tess and I took him to the 24 hour vet hospital. They couldn't find anything wrong with him but suggested an x-ray would be the next step. By this stage it was 9.30pm and I was due to take Tom to the hospital the following morning at 5.45am so we decided to take Ted home and deal with him in the morning. Thursday morning and whilst Tom was being prepped for his operation, Tess was taking Ted to our local vet. In the afternoon we got the call that there was definitely a "foreign object" in Ted's stomach and the only option was to operate. Not surprisingly the vet found a sock - this is Ted's 3rd sock removal and the vet keeps telling us that this can't keep happening. Sadly Ted hasn't got the memo. Tom and Ted both spent Thursday night in hospital and came home on Friday. They're both doing well.

P.S. We washed the offending sock to identify it's owner and were all very relieved to discover it wasn't one of ours!
