Happy Halloween!

Friday was Halloween and in the afternoon we went round to my lovely American friend's house, Alayne, who knows how to do Halloween in style.  She actually carved her own pumpkin which impressed me and the kids.  Tess dressed up as Winnie the Witch and Tom appeared as Spiderman.  The houses near Alayne's house all go to town and they were fantastically decorated with skeletons, spiders, cobwebs etc so the kids got a pretty good haul and everyone was happy!

Jules spent the weekend deck building and managed to enlist the help of our next-door neighbour, Craig - you may have heard of him as he's part of our recently formed commune.  They did a fantastic job and worked ceaselessly all weekend.  For those who are discerning enough you will have realised that I have had far too much wine to write a blog but I vowed to myself that I would update it every Sunday evening.  As it happens, we are off to the Farm (Craig and Lisa's farm but more commonly referred to as The Farm) on Friday for a week which will be amazing but obviously I will be out of range and therefore unable to update the blog.  We have grand plans for building a cubby house given our recent experience with the deck - I will report back.

Work has progressed on the kitchen but I am still not going to mention it as this is the fourth weekend without a kitchen and I have resigned myself to the fact that I won't be able to use the new one until after the farm by which time the floor will have been finished and we will be finally rid of all the dust and dirt!  When Jules and I were discussing the positioning of my special sink on Thursday morning Tess enquired "Mummy, are you going to start weeping?"  I would like to weep but I can't see the sink as it is clamped into place and covered with various Caesar Stone off-cuts.
