On Friday morning Tom and I went round to Leanne, Noah and Charlie's house to play. Noah and Charlie got a kitten last week - a beautiful white ball of fluff called Ginger. Tom was beside himself because although the kitten is still a little bit nervous of so much attention he did allow himself to be cuddled. After an hour of being there I noticed that one of Tom's eyes was red and watering, 10 minutes later he could barely open it. Fortunately our friend Alayne, a doctor, was there and she suggested that Tom might be allergic to the cat which is very possible as Robert is allergic to cats and his eyes do exactly the same thing if he goes anywhere near one. I took Tom to the chemist to get some anti-histamines and a couple of hours later his eye was back to normal.
On Saturday our good friends Rob and Kate came round to dinner with Scarlett and Florence. We haven't seen them all for over 6 months and it was fantastic to catch up. The transformation in little Florence is amazing - last time we saw her she was still in a pram but she is now this beautiful, willowy little girl. Tess and Scarlett played very well together sharing stories about school and we had the chance to catch up on everything that's been going on in the past 6 months (quite a lot for all of us!). Kate is actually the inspiration behind my blog - I have been reading her blog religiously once a week for years and I eventually had the realisation that I could do one too.
Jules spent Sunday sailing on his friend Martin's boat. It was a wet and windy day but that didn't put them off and they came first in their race which was excellent. I took the children to an indoor swimming pool as Tom has been asking me for weeks to take him (the highlight of his week is his half hour swim class on a friday morning) and we were lucky that it was really quite empty so the kids swam for an hour until I was practically hypothermic and dragged them out of the pool! In the afternoon Tess' friend Olivia came to play and the three children played beautifully with the train set until Tom decided it was all too tame and started breaking up the track and throwing the pieces all around the room. The girls were suitably appalled and made him tidy up every last piece without me having to intervene - what a result!
