The first birthday we celebrated this week was my friend Leanne's. After our restaurant plans fell through we decided to go for a picnic on a grassy hill overlooking the harbour as the sun set. It was the most perfect spot bathed in the warm evening sun, we ordered takeaway and sat chatting until we needed to light the lanterns so that we could play Articulate. I can't remember what was so funny but the 4 of us spent all evening in tears with laughter - the perfect way to celebrate a birthday!
On Sunday we had Tom's 4th birthday party. We decided in order to avoid any confusion we would treat the whole day as his birthday so that he could open our presents too and have a very special day instead of a kindy day. As Tom is such a water baby it was only fitting that we had a pool party which started at 10am with pineapple and mint smoothies for the adults and melon and blueberries for the children followed by some serious swimming and then onto bacon sarnies for the adults and hot dogs for the children. As you can see I got away lightly with the cake!
