Jules was sailing this weekend so the kids and I went to the farm with the Mennies and the Jamos. Tess was very happy to have Friday off school and we started the day with 6 of her friends in the pool whilst I packed the car.
It was hot and windy at the farm and there were a number of bushfires burning nearby which we were made aware of by the sound (and occasionally sight) of a fire-fighting helicopter. Tom slept until 6.50 on Saturday morning which is probably the latest he has ever slept in. After some desultory cow-feeding (it was too dusty and hot and Tom got attacked by bull ants) we decided the only sensible course of action was to go to the nearby swimming pool via our favourite winery where we all stocked up on serious amounts of wine.
We took Tom's balance bike to the farm and he mastered zooming down the steep hill with his feet up which I thought was pretty impressive.
Jules had a weekend of sailing with the twilight on Friday night and St Jude on Saturday. Andrew is currently over from the UK so he helped with the twilight and Jules caught up with him again on Saturday night.
We heard of a new acronym this week to describe people like us - both working and dependent children - we're NETTELs - Not Enough Time To Enjoy Life. I think we're doing a fairly good job of enjoying life but imagine how much better it would be with a bit more free time!
