A busy week for the McPhersons with me in Melbourne for 2 days on business but rest assured I left copious notes about who needed to be where, when and with what! On Friday we decided to give Tess the day off school and headed to the zoo catching both the seal and the bird show. I think I've mentioned before that the kids are on first name terms with all the seals in the seal show and both were delighted that a new seal, Murphy, has joined the show! Robert and Claire joined Jules for the twilight again and having learnt the ropes last week they managed to come 5th out of 30 which everyone was pretty happy with.
The Jamos came round for dinner on Saturday night and we had a lovely evening with all the kids playing beautifully and Julia making an amazing lemon and blueberry cheesecake for dessert.
Sunday morning was nippers which Tess tried desperately to get out of particularly as the weather had turned a bit cold again. She claims that it's the temperature of the sea she doesn't like so straight after nippers we went and bought her a wetsuit - fingers crossed it helps for next week. Still feeling energetic we put the bikes on the back of the car and went for a cycle around Narabeen Lake which we chose because it's fairly flat so the kids couldn't complain about hills. Jules, Tom and I loved it but Tess wasn't so convinced! She's at that difficult stage where she could probably do with a bigger bike but still needs to work up her confidence on her existing bike.
In an addendum to this post Jules and I had just poured our first glass of wine when Tess appeared in tears at the top of the stairs because she had just seen some trick or treaters and realised we'd not taken her out. In order to get back to our wine as soon as possible we quickly dressed them up and went out for a brief stroll around the neighbourhood. 14 lollies each later and everyone's happy!!!
