I think I mentioned in last week's post how much it has rained recently. We got off lightly last weekend and were doing quite well on Monday until 5 minutes before I was due to pick the kids up from school and take them to tennis. The heavens opened and by the time the kids had run to the car they were soaked through to the bone. Because the sun was making an effort to appear through the clouds there was the most magnificent rainbow which seemed very close by and so, given that tennis was cancelled, we went on a rainbow hunt. Every time we thought we'd got to the end of the rainbow it seemed to disappear and we ended up at Tania Park with one side in bushland and the other going right into the sea. We agreed that we didn't have the gear required to go digging at the end of the rainbow and so headed back home for some tea and cake.
Another action packed morning of sport on Saturday and then Andrew and Marianne arrived. The weather was so glorious we headed down to Little Manly Beach where Tom insisted on playing rugby and the girls searched for lizards on the rocks. You can just see the poor terrified lizard on the end of Marianne's finger in the photo. After lots of activity we came home and had birthday cake - Jules' birthday was actually on Tuesday but being mid-week we thought it best to keep the cake for the weekend when we could all properly enjoy it.
On Sunday Jules had the last race of the winter series with no wind to speak of so they actually didn't manage to finish but bobbed around in the sunshine and collided with another boat! Tess had Eleanor over for a play date and Tom had his friend Charles so I took the 4 of them up to Tania Park to play on the rocks and in the bushes. They all loved rolling down the hill as fast as possible and I don't think Tess' white t-shirt will ever recover from the grass stains!
