Easter Long Weekend at Home
Due to one thing and another we ended up spending the Easter long weekend at home. Jules often gets a bit fidgety if we're not off somewhere during public holidays but we ended up having a brilliant time. The holiday started on Thursday with a trip to the Royal Easter Show much to the kids delight. We arrived at 9.30 and lasted until 4pm which we all thought was pretty good going. The kids got to go on thousands of rides (the real highlight for them), we saw lots of animals, some show jumping, a crazy high-diving act, cattle dogs rounding up sheep and the kids ended up with 2 show bags full of lollies.
We found the following sign at a skatepark at the show - I need to get a t-shirt made for Tom whilst his arm is still in a cast!!!
At the show I spoilt myself by buying extendable tree loppers to help us tame the bamboo and trees growing in our garden so we gave them a very good workout on Friday. Jules and I don't often garden and when we do we're of the "if you don't like it pull it out" variety which generally means reducing the garden to a few empty beds. The kids loved cutting things with secaturs and the couple of trips to the tip to get rid of the vegetation provided us with "outings"!! The weather was glorious for the entire weekend so we did manage a few trips to the beach with Tom restricted to the concrete paths or rock formations so that he didn't get sand in his cast.
Jules got up early on Easter Sunday to do a run (he's currently training for a half marathon in May) followed by a swim and then it was off to Adelaide Street for an Easter Egg hunt. The kids were very disappointed that the Easter Bunny didn't make it to our garden this year but that was due to a blocked drain on Saturday afternoon which rendered the garden unusable for a couple of days.
We also found time for a long bush walk from Davis Marina right around to Clontarf. It's a sign that the kids are growing up that they can now do this bush walk easily. We will have to find some longer ones for winter.
