Vets, pizza, boats and a penguin

It's been a great start to the school holidays although to be honest I'd be pressed to tell you what we did last week!  We saw a few friends, we "chillaxed" at home and the kids were Zoo Vets for the day.  They got to hang out at the animal hospital, pat a baby possum and various other sick animals, look at different x-rays of funny things animals have swallowed, practice their bandaging skills on toy animals and of course an obligatory trip to the seal show.

The weekend started with a grown up night out with the Mennies at Miss Marley's - a funky latin-american type bar which does fantastic cocktails and surprisingly amazing food.  The kids were thrilled we were going out because their beloved Bronte (who was their nanny last year) came and babysat.

After a seriously cold spell during the week which had us reaching for winter woollies and hot water bottles the weather has turned balmy again so we made the most of it and went out on the boat.  Due to Tom not being able to swim with his cast we cruised along to the fish markets, had lunch and cruised back again.  The kids took it in turns to drive the boat but it looked like all Tess really wanted to do was read her book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" which she must have read a 100 times already!

Penguin spotted!
We made pizza and watched Jurassic Park with the kids on Saturday night.  The pizzas were a huge success but we'd forgotten how scary parts of the movie are so Tom went to bed early and we needed to sit with both children for a while so that they could get to sleep.  Well done us??!!
Jules' creation!
Caught trying to break the other arm!
