Farm trip and some deck building

Fire building

We've just come back from a long weekend at the farm.  Stuart (the farm manager) and his friend Noel turned up on Saturday to start rebuilding some of the farm deck so Jules and Craig gave them a hand.  They ended up spending the whole day working - the deck is being rebuilt out of hard wood and they didn't have a nail gun so it was a slow and tedious process of drilling holes for the nails.  I'm not sure you can see from the photo but Noel had the most amazing hair and beard, quite the Wild Man of the West.

Tom spent as much time motor bike riding as possible and Tess learned to drive the quad bike - she's much better than me!

My "project" for the weekend was to have a bit of a play with my digital SLR and to learn how to use it on settings other than "auto" all the time.  Hence there are quite a few photos this week - makes a change from endless surfing photos :)
