Ode to an Autumn day

The editor is having the weekend off so its me on blog duty today.  Its probably getting a bit repetitive for anyone reading this but I just can't get over how good the weather has been for so long now.  I think it rained overnight on Tuesday (which is allowable) and then has been sunny with perfect blue skies for the rest of the week.

When the weather is like this Sydney is just so fantastic.  The nights are cool but not cold - the perfect temperature to sleep deeply.  The days start a little crisp but the sun still has plenty of heat.  The humidity of the summer is gone and as the day quickly warms up into the low to mid 20s there's not quite enough heat for a sea breeze so the days are still.  It's a perfect balance between winter and summer.  The only downside is that the weekend races by.

Tess' netball team are going well - it's amazing to see how much they have all come on after only a couple of years.  Tom is enjoying rugby,  he is gradually tackling more and getting into it.  His post match analysis on the way home is a highlight of the day. After Saturday morning sports Uncle Robert came for lunch and debriefed on his latest adventures.

Tess hooked up with a couple of besties Olivia and Jessie and they wandered around the neighbourhood in and out of each others houses.  We were invited round to our lovely neighbours for in impromptu birthday cake for their newly teenage son.  I took Tom down to Manly - if he wasn't currently obsessed by surfing I'd be dragging him down there anyway because it's so good in the water.
Breakfast
Sunday and we were down to Freshwater for an early morning session followed by coffee and bacon rolls on the beach - we headed down again in the afternoon because it seemed such a waste not to.  As I sat on the sand I thought about those weekend surf trips to Newquay with Spence, Alex, Mick and Nate.  Probably should have spent a bit more time learning to surf and a bit less time down the pub.  Actually nah the water was too cold and who needs brain cells anyway.  At least I can put a wetsuit on the right way round these days (well most times).  Glory days...
