The Boat Shed

Friends of ours have recently bought the most amazing house in Seaforth with stunning views of the water and their very own boat shed and jetty.  On Saturday night we joined another couple for dinner at The Boat Shed.  We sat by the water soaking up the evening sun as the kids kayaked, swam, jumped off the jetty and caught crabs.  Once the kids had been fed they disappeared up to the house to watch a movie whilst we stayed by the waters edge, listened to the water lapping gently and watched the navigation lights and lights from the fish men's boats as we ate a delicious dinner.  It was like being on holiday in an exclusive resort and we hope to be invited back soon!

The classes at school have finally been formed and Tess and Tom have ended up with quite traditional teachers this year (i.e. older and quite strict - a great combination in my book!) - Mrs Butcher and Mrs Paine.  I went to the meet-the-teacher evenings and was impressed with what I heard.  In Tess' classroom I found she had written down her goals for 2014:

On Saturday morning Tess started a tennis competition with Olivia.  They've been having lessons together for about 2 years now and have come along enormously but to get to the next level we felt they needed to start playing competitive tennis.  It was a scorching day and there was a certain amount of waiting around but overall I think they both really enjoyed themselves and there's no doubt that it will do wonders for their tennis.  I'm now playing competition tennis twice a week (the benefits of not working.....!) and I'm loving it.
