Vance Joy and Tom's birthday party

We have an incredibly kind friend who knows all about Tom and his guitar playing/singing so when she heard that Vance Joy was doing a concert in Sydney she went on line and booked tickets for her and her son, me and Tom.  Tom and I went to pick up Meg and Jay and we drove over to Newtown which is a very trendy part of Sydney.  We chose to have dinner at a Greek restaurant because neither of our husbands like greek food but we are both quite partial.  The boys were the most excellent company and we had such a fun time.  After dinner we popped to Cow and the Moon which is one of the best gelateria's in Sydney.  The concert started with Vance Joy playing Fire and the Flood which is one of the songs Tom plays and I was worried Tom would get thrown out of the concert he was singing so loudly.  It was Tom and Jay's first concert and it was such a brilliant one for them.  I think they got a real appreciation of the joy of listening to live music and Tom said it's given him some ideas for his own music.

On Saturday we had Tom's party at the Stunt Gym where, for an hour and a half, Tom and 8 of his friends were taught all sorts of stunts like climbing up vertical walls, walking along walls, vaulting over obstacles etc.  The boys were very very hot by the end of it but it was lovely to see how much they enjoyed it and the confidence they got out of managing to do stunts they thought impossible.

Sunday was a frantic day with Tom leaving the house at 7.30am and getting back at 7.15pm after competing all morning in a board carnival and playing 2 games of competition water polo in the afternoon.

Sadly I don't have any photos of Tess because she's a teenager and scowls at me if I suggest taking one.  However, on Saturday she was talking to me in the kitchen and rested her arm on my shoulder because she could which immediately led to me getting the tape measure out.  She is 5ft 9 and a half inches tall (or 175cm)!!!! How did that happen??? Will she grow further?
