Who's the biggest kook? Happy birthday Jules!

Kook is a commonly used word in our house - generally in the form of an insult hurled between Jules and Tom relating in some way to surfing.  In the interests of accuracy I have searched the Urban Dictionary and found the following definition: someone posing very hard as a surfer or skateboarder.  You get the idea!

It was Jules' birthday on Thursday and Tom made him the following card:

This card manages to spectacularly insult almost everyone.  Tom was very pleased with himself!

We went for dinner at Queen Chow, a new chinese restaurant at Manly Wharf, sadly I didn't manage to get any photos.

Somehow, although it was Jules' birthday, I was the one who went away for the weekend.  A holiday for everyone potentially??  The girls and I headed to the Hunter Valley for the weekend.  We stayed in the most amazing cottage, Millfield Homestead, and spent Saturday being driven around the Hunter visiting various boutique wineries.  It was a fabulous weekend made even more fabulous by the addition of Kate, over from the UK by chance for work and able to join us.  One thing we all remarked on was how dry the countryside is.  The news is full of stories about how the farmers are doing it tough because there's not been any decent rainfall for months and that is very evident.  In fact, on the Saturday night we heard a number of emergency vehicles race past our house on their way to help control a bushfire burning not far from us.
