Tess the Poet

Mother's Day was a couple of months ago but I was clearing away the cards when I found Tess'.  All I ask of both kids for any special occasion is that they make me a card because there is nothing else I would rather receive.  Tom invariably draws a picture of him surfing with perhaps some funny comments about how useless the rest of us are at surfing.  Tess, on the other hand, is an excellent poem/rhyme writer and I wanted to share her Mother's Day offering:

There are a few things that I'd like to say,
so open the card.  Come on!  This way.

First, I want to thank you, for the wonderful mother you've been.
Putting up with me when I cry, and also when I'm mean.

You take me to places like swimming and friends.
Even when you're at your wits end.

Thank you as well for looking after Ted.
He's my favourite doggy (and he likes his new bed!).

So in conclusion to this Mothers Day card,
I love you and thank you for working so hard!

I mean seriously!  Was there ever a finer bit of prose!

Jules and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary on Sunday with lunch at The Pantry overlooking Manly Beach.  It's one of our favourite restaurants especially with a window seat allowing us to people watch.

Later that same day, Jules took this dramatic photo up at Tania Park whilst walking the dog.

On Saturday night the girls went out for dinner at Chica Bonita in Manly to celebrate Kara and Ange's birthdays.  It's a cheap but very cheerful Mexican and we all had a fantastic time whilst actually being very restrained with the drinks.  Possibly we're growing up......!
