And like that he changed

Last weekend Tom stopped being my little boy and started being a teenager.  I don't know exactly what triggered the change but we've been butting heads a bit recently as he's been more absent minded than usual, less compliant and not as communicative.  I knew this was going to happen one day but I'm shocked at how quickly he's changed - like a switch was flicked.  The positive side to this change is that he is talking to Jules more and actively seeking out his company.

Jules did a dash up to the Mennie's farm for a couple of nights with Craig and some other guys from work.  Apparently the effects of the drought can be clearly seen with very little grass left and the dams looking low.

Tom had QBC Tag Team competition on Saturday.  His team got through to the finals and ended up coming second.  It's a lovely competition where the teams are made up of surfers across the age groups and the younger surfers particularly enjoy it.

Tom took his Grade 5 saxophone exam on Wednesday and got an A!  Such an amazing achievement and a little unexpected as I didn't think he was as well prepared as last year.  I loved the examiner's comment: "Thomas, this was a balanced and contrasting programme with moments of excellent musicianship." - that's my boy!!!
