Mother's Day in Canberra

Julia, Lisa and I have not had a decent catch up for quite some time so we arranged to spend the Mother's Day weekend in Canberra.  Lisa and I drove down on Friday morning stopping at Some Cafe in Collector for a bowl of delicious pumpkin soup.  We arrived in Canberra just after lunch and immediately opened a bottle of wine to start our catching up process!
Lisa and Julia at the Arboretum although you can't see any of the forests in this photo!

On Saturday we visited the National Arboretum which features 94 forests of rare, endangered and symbolic trees from around Australia and the world.  It was only planted a few years ago so the trees are still all quite small but it is in a stunning location and will be amazing once the forests have matured a bit more.

We signed ourselves up to do the Mother's Day Breast Cancer 5km walk on Sunday morning.  It was a very cold morning (around 5 degrees!) but the autumn leaves were at their finest and we enjoyed getting some exercise after all the eating and drinking we'd done.

Meanwhile Jules was at home with the kids.  Tess had a basketball game on Saturday morning which her team won and Tess scored 2 baskets.  Jules made it to the Bold & Beautiful swim on Sunday morning - it was a stunning morning in Sydney and he enjoyed sitting in the sunshine for about an hour after finishing the swim.  The rest of the time he was driving Tom and Tess round to various social engagements in-between trying to get some work done so perhaps not the best weekend for him.
