Bye bye bamboo

As part of our garden renovation we are replacing the cage-like fence between us and our neighbours but in order to do so we needed to get rid of the bamboo which has grown up and around it.  We look very exposed now but fortunately neither our neighbours nor us use our gardens so it hasn't actually made much difference.  We foolishly planted the bamboo 10 years ago - it's caused all sorts of problems with the neighbours pipes and we've struggled to keep it looking tidy because it grows so quickly so I am now, as my penance, in the process of digging the roots out by hand - it's very slow and painful work but I'm determined to minimise the risk of it coming back.

Due to a further relaxation of the Covid rules we were able to have a girl's lunch at Kara's house on Sunday afternoon.  It was lovely to catch up with everyone in the flesh!  We even managed to FaceTime in Jen from Hong Kong (which is where we were all supposed to be this weekend!) and it was lovely to catch up.
