Tom and his school mates were very lucky to make it to the Northern Territory and back again without having to quarantine. Sydney went into lockdown on Friday for a two week period as the Delta variant tries to take hold. I love a lockdown and it doesn't affect us much - we're still allowed to go out and exercise so the main difference is having to work from home which is hardly a hardship!
Jules received a promotion this week to Head of Audit Australia. It is an amazing achievement and he'll be brilliant in that role.
I have been asked by Sedgwick to take on an Operations Manager role which I (possibly foolishly) have accepted. So we might both be quite busy!
Whilst Tom was in the NT he spent time with a 70 year old aboriginal man called Bill. Tom and Bill got on like a house on fire and Bill taught Tom home to fish properly. Tom went fishing last week and caught a beautiful trevally which he brought home and cooked on the bbq with some red curry paste and lemon - impressive on all counts.
As an early birthday present to himself Jules is getting his Landcruiser reconditioned. He's found this amazing old Italian man who has a workshop full of vintage cars in incredible condition. Jules goes down each weekend to see what's been going on. This weekend the doors were all off - 3 of them are being reconditioned and one is being fully replaced because there is too much rust. It will be incredible once it's finished and I may be persuaded to let it live in the carport.
Jules and Andrew were meant to be sailing this weekend but sadly the race got cancelled due to the lockdown. However, the weather was so glorious and there was a lovely wind so they went out Sunday morning, out past the heads, and had a lovely time.
The girls and I have discovered this fabulous coffee shop in Manly that actually serves takeaway cocktails of an evening. We met on Sunday afternoon and walked down to Manly armed with our keep cups for our cocktail to fortify us on the walk home. Such a brilliant idea and all that walking negates the calorific impact of the cocktail - obviously!
