Well, Tess doesn't think so but I certainly do! Having to pack a sensible well balanced lunch box every day, having to make sure her hair is nicely brushed and tidy (with her curls and knots this is a real challenge believe me), having to remember all the different things she needs to take to school each day of the week, having to remember the names of all the other mums and children........you get the picture! Tess however is completely in her element and loves going - she's still on her "I'm so grown-up now" rant and I have to say that she is behaving more grown-up offering to help with things like tidying up and unloading the dishwasher - I really do hope this lasts!
By contrast Tom is finding it more difficult to settle into his kindy class. He is in Tess' old class which means he knows all the teachers but he's been separated from all the children he's been at kindy with since he was 10 months old. I think he finds it disconcerting that Tess is no longer on the same "campus" as him but he took her to school with me for the first time on Friday and I'm hoping he now has a better understanding of where she is going each day - in fact he keeps saying that he wants to go to school too!
Friday was my first day with just Tom and we had a fantastic time. We started with swim class in which he was a complete star - swimming without any flotation devices, diving into the swimming pool and generally playing the class clown! After that we went to the beach to meet up with my mother's group and all their second children - it was so peaceful just having the little ones around and we actually got to have quite a good and not so interrupted chat for once. We went straight from the beach to pick up Tess and then straight back down to another beach which it seemed every other child from Tess' school did too as the place was teeming!
On Saturday Jules headed off early for his ocean race up to Newcastle and back. My good friend Leanne with Noah and Charlie came round in the morning for a swim as the temperature was in the mid 30s and it was the only thing to do. In the afternoon Tess had a play date with Olivia, Tom had a play date with Hunter and I did some chores - lucky me!
Jules got back on Sunday at around 11am after sailing all day and night - he looked rather battered with a seriously impressive array of bruises. After a swim in the pool and some lunch he had an afternoon sleep as did Tess and Tom - perhaps Tess is a little tired after all!
